The East Coast Swamp Flyers R/C Club, Inc. is located in Northford, CT just adjacent to the Northford Ice Pavilion and behind the Honeywell factory.  The club was founded by a small group of radio controlled aircraft enthusiasts in the late 1960's and now has more than 140 members coming close to our club max of 150!

The club is affiliated with and designated a "Leader Club" by the Academy of Model Aeronautics!

Before moving to our current home, the original club field was in a small clearing behind the TOPS discount store on the Boston Post Road in West Haven, CT. The "TOPS" field was surrounded by trees and marshland, thus the members referred to themselves as "swamp flyers". In winter when ice often made the TOPS field inaccessible, the group would fly at the West Haven beach near Chick's Drive In or at the Carrigan Middle School in West Haven.

The TOPS field was lost in the early 1970s when the owner decided to develop the land and, for a short time, the members flew from a small field on State Street in North Haven, CT before moving to our present location behind the Honeywell factory on Route 22 in North Branford, CT.

At about the time we moved to our present field, the members voted to incorporate the club and we became the East Coast Swamp Flyers R/C Club, Inc. As incorporated, the club consists of the general members, the club officers (President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary) and a board of directors. We usually meet at 7 PM on the third Wednesday of every other month at the Foxon Community Center on Route 80 in East Haven, CT. but outdoor club meetings are occasionally scheduled at the field during the summer months when the days are longer and warm weather prevails.

Although it has been roughly 40 years since our club was formed at TOPS field, two of our original members (Bill David and Joe Scialla) still belong to the club and fly with us on a regular basis.
